Dreamy Playground on the Roof of Talee Department Store

For those born in 70s or 80s, President and Talee Department Stores have left indelible memories, especially their playgrounds on the roof. Open in 1984 and followed the successful mode of President Department Store on Wufu 2nd Road, Talee Department Store becomes a must-visit place for tourists in Kaohsiung.

However, President Department Store was burned down in 1995. Later, new and fashionable department stores are scattered in Kaohsiung, which people forget the memory of President Department Store. Talee has been different without its counterpart, President. Since 2008, Talee has established another shiny, glamorous building, called Talee Star Place, aiming at fashion industry. Childlike Happiness in an Urban Jungle

To recall the memory of Kaohsiung people, the rooftop paradise of Talee Department Store closed for six months in order to repair and repaint facilities and also increase its security. In 2017, children can use facilities for free on holidays in the hope of having parents and children recreate sweet/happy childhood memory.

Archaic slot machines are preserved in the playground. Among five entertainment facilities, “interstellar merry-go-around” is the most popular one because passengers can control the up-and-down button themselves and because of the spectacular view of Kaohsiung, including 85 Sky Tower, Central Park, etc. Moreover, colored drawing and graffiti on the wall of the playground attract the younger for having a date or check-ins.
